In the evening of May 30, the Sniper Day 2019 organized by the Lithuanian Armed Forces of the Lithuanian Armed Forces ended the tenth time. 144 of the 15 countries competed for the best sniper name and prize set by the Lithuanian Armed Forces Commander. In the standard arms division, the team from the Vaidoto Mechanized Infantry Battalion appeared for the second consecutive year.
For the second time in a row, Yuri Jedelo, the leader of the Land Force Commander, won the best result. In the semi-automatic arms division, the team of Juozas Vitkus Engineering Battalion was the best, and in the individual ranking was defeated by senior man. Ordinary Thomas Klimas. Aleksandras Belskis and Paulius Vilpišauskas won the first place in the Open Division from the Lithuanian Federation of Long-range Shooting, and Alexander Belski was the best in the overall ranking.
Every year the competition from the previous ones is distinguished not only by the growth of the number of participants and states, but also by the complexity of the tasks. For the first time in the race, and for a number of years now, snipers were pleased that the focus was not on sniper tactics, but on the shooter's "communication" with the weapon and "conversation" with ballistic laws.
This year's competition was attended by shooters from fifteen NATO countries: Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Canada, Poland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Romania, Slovenia and Germany. Ukrainian and Swedish soldiers competed with NATO shooters. The Open Division was attended by members of the Lithuanian Long-Range Shooting Federation and the shooters of the Lithuanian Riflemen's Union.
The aim of these competitions, which have already become a tradition, is to foster the traditions of sniper shooting, exchange experience, compare skills, communicate and popularize target shooting and sniper specialties between the Republic of Lithuania power structures and NATO partners.
