CHAOS AFTER MASSIVE EXPLOSION AT IRANIAN PORT

Footage shows the moment a massive explosion ripped through the Rajai Port dock in Bandar Abbas, Iran.

A fuel tank reportedly detonated, damaging most of the port’s buildings and causing a "chaotic situation" on the ground.

Local reports suggest many people were killed and over 50 injured, with security and rescue forces scrambling to regain control.

One of Iran’s busiest ports is now a disaster zone - and the cause of the blast remains unknown.

According to a person with ties to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) who spoke to the New York Times, today’s major explosion and fire at the port of Bandar Abbas in Southern Iran which killed at least 15 and injured nearly a thousand others, is believed to have been caused by sodium perchlorate, a major ingredient in solid-fuel for missiles which had recently arrived at the port via China. In January, several Iranian ships filled with sodium perchlorate made port in Bandar Abbas after departing Taicang in Eastern China, following reports that Chinese companies had begun to provide Iran with fuel for medium to long-range ballistic missiles, with these reports later being confirmed by the U.S. State Department.

The regime in Iran has evacuated the entire port in Bandar Abbas, moving all ships away from the deadly fire.

The fire at Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas is intensifying. Local firefighters say they lack the equipment needed to control the blaze, which is rapidly spreading to areas with other flammable containers.

The death toll has risen to 8 with over 750 injured.

This is a Uranium Production Plant, next to the Bandar Abbas Port fire. Allegedly "closed" in 2016, by the Iranian Government.

Notable:
Persian Gulf Star Oil Refinery: Located in Bandar Abbas, this facility is a condensate splitter with a capacity of approximately 400,000 barrels per day (b/d). It primarily processes gas condensate into refined products, making it one of Iran's most significant refining assets.

Bandar Abbas Refinery: Also based in Bandar Abbas, this crude oil refinery has a capacity of about 320,000 b/d. Operating alongside the Persian Gulf Star facility, it contributes significantly to Iran's refining output.

Significance: This is the largest and most important naval base in Iran. It serves as the headquarters of the Iranian Navy and is home to most of its patrol ships, frigates, destroyers, and submarines. It also features the main ship repair yard and is heavily defended due to its strategic position.

The explosions and fire occurred at the (non-nuclear) "Montazere Ghaem power station - which is the main electricity supplier to western Tehran.

Adjacent to the power plant are buildings and offices of the "Qala Electric" company, which is affiliated with the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and deals mainly with centrifuges for nuclear enrichment facilities.

The fire is still raging from the facility, and thick smoke covers the area.

Government sources in Iran claim a "lightning strike" due to the stormy weather in the area.

According to the version of Iranian citizens (reportedly) - Around 8:40 PM Tehran time, residents in several areas of Karaj heard a loud explosion. Minutes later, air defense systems in western Tehran were activated and fired several consecutive shots. At the same time, fighter jets flew at low altitude west of Tehran.
