The continuous mysterious deaths in Baddal village of Rajouri district have raised the concern of experts. In the last 16 days, nine people including seven children from two families of Baddal village have died so far. Among these, there were three people who reached the hospitals in a stable condition, but after a few days their health suddenly deteriorated and they died. It is being told that the nervous system of these three was attacked and they slowly went into coma after becoming unconscious. On the other hand, various health investigation agencies at the national and state level have not been able to find the cause of the deaths on the basis of the results.

Inimese metapneumoviirus (hMPV) on sel talvel eriti hoogsalt levimas Hiinas, kus haiglate ummistatus meenutab kohati koroonaviiruse leviku alguse aega. Eesti terviseamet on registreerinud mõned kümned nakatumised ka Eestis, ent midagi erakorralist haiguse levikus seni pole.
Terviseameti gripikeskuse peaspetsialist Arina Šablinskaja ütles Fortele, et hMPV kuulub ülemiste hingamisteede viirusnakkuste hulka. Haiguse kulg võib varieeruda asümptomaatilisest vormist bronhioliidini.

hMPV võib avalduda sarnaselt teiste hingamisteede haigustega, alates nohust ja köhast kuni palaviku ja hingamisraskusteni.

Eestis registreeritakse8 tema sõnul aastas ligikaudu 300 hMPV juhtumit, mida iseloomustab selgelt hooajalisus, esinedes sagedamini sügis- ja talvekuudel.

„Inimese metapneumoviiruse levikut ja olukorda uuritakse ning jälgitakse iganädalaselt ülemiste hingamisteede ägedate respiratoorsete nakkuste valimipõhise uuringu (sentinel-seire) kaudu. Detsembris registreeriti 24 juhtumit,“ rääkis Šablinskaja.
