Veel 8 tankerit Vene naftaga on teel Hollandi poole
The Ukrainian embassy in the Netherlands warned the cabinet on Monday that eight more ships with Russian oil are on their way to Dutch ports. The diplomats want the Netherlands to keep those ships out. Earlier, Amsterdam and Rotterdam dock workers refused to unload the Sunny Liger.
The ships would come from Russian ports such as Primorsk, Novorossiysk, Ust-Luga and Murmansk. According to Ukraine, seven ships will arrive before May 6 and an eighth ship will arrive on May 11.
"The Netherlands must do everything in its power to ensure that these ships cannot unload in Dutch ports," the embassy writes. "The revenue that Russia then generates can be used by the Kremlin to pay for the war in Ukraine."
Every drop of oil sold is one too many, the embassy concludes. "There must be zero tolerance and leniency for these ships until there is peace in Ukraine."

Cabinet is in favor of banning ships with Russian oilFor the time being, there is therefore one ship carrying Russian oil at anchor in the port of Amsterdam: the Sunny Liger. The dock workers refuse to help the ship because of the Russian oil present, in view of the war in Ukraine. Earlier, the ship was also refused by Swedish port employees.
The municipality of Amsterdam has not yet decided whether the ship will be definitively refused. The city authorities are closely monitoring the situation. The municipality previously announced that it was "undesirable" if the ship would unload in the Amsterdam port.
Incidentally, the Sunny Liger is not a Russian ship. It is registered in the Marshall Islands and has never sailed under the Russian flag.
Minister Wopke Hoekstra (Foreign Affairs) said on Saturday that the decision not to let the ship dock was "very good". The cabinet wants to get rid of the import of Russian energy as soon as possible. Companies have been called on to limit the import of Russian oil, coal and gas as much as possible.
