Terra Avia on ops for Garuda Indonesia Boeing 747-400 (ER-BOS, built 2001) experienced a brief engine fire during take-off rotation from runway 21 at Makassar-Intl Airport(WAAA), Indonesia. The pilots of flight #GA1105 to Madinah continued the climb-out, entered a holding pattern off the coast, and returned for a safe landing about 90 min later. None of the 468 occupants aboard was harmed.

Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and the country's Foreign Minister Hosein Amir Abdulahian survived, Mehr News Agency reported.

According to local media, the presidential helicopter made a hard landing in a mountainous area due to bad weather conditions (heavy rain and strong winds). The rescuers can't get there yet because of the fog.

Preliminarily, no one from the escort was injured either.

RAF Coningsby has paid tribute to Squadron Leader Mark Long, who was killed in a Spitfire crash near the base.

"A great friend, colleague, and a passionate, professional aviator he will be sorely missed by all that knew him," said Group Captain Robbie Lees, Commander Display Air Wing.

Sqn Ldr Long was a Typhoon pilot at RAF Coningsby and for the last four years has been a pilot with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
