WW2 Estonian volunteer sleeve shield from iron (EMBLEEMID)

Vormid, auastmed, auastme- ja erialatunnused. Ja kõike muud, mis ühe "laigulise" või "mitte-laigulise" pealt leida võib.

Tere!

(Sorry about my bad English!)
One my friend in his collection have Estonian volunteer sleeve shield from iron.
About this shield I have a question: this model of Estonian sleeve shields was used only by police units or by Estn.Frw.Div. too?

Best regards, Agris.

Labdien, neighbours!

I see that nobody has answered yet – so I open the floor for discussions.

WW2 insignias are not my theme, but this particular item should belong to our East Battalions. If I am not mistaking, then these units were established 1941 in Estonia after soviets retreated and they belong to German Wehrmacht. Most of men’s joined with these units in 1944 as a attempt to hold back Red Army (Germans were retreating) and declare our independence.

One of my relatives fight in East Battalion, among of his things what we still keep is exactly same metal sleeve shield (yours looks a bit better). There are also some photos, made on the frontline ... By the way, this relative of mine participated also in our Liberation War (1918-1920) and fights brought him to Latvia as well (he got a medal too, saying “par Latviju – par mums” or something like that).

Hopefully other forum readers, who are experts on this theme, will share their knowledge with you.
